Without knowing it, most of us aren’t taking care of our hands. Instead, we’re putting unnecessary strain on them. Sometimes this strain causes a loss of strength, tension that moves up your arms, flare-ups of acute pain that can become chronic—and it can be hard to break the cycle of inflammation once it starts. There may be short term solutions out there, but what about something longer-lasting? The solution is not just changing your hand movements, but changing your brain!
Your brain’s motor cortex is packed with neural connections that connect with every part of your body. Because your hands are so important -biologically speaking- to your survival, more space is taken up in your brain by neural connections that involve your hands, than any other part. The two Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons taught by David Zemach-Bersin in this program are designed to access key neural connections in a therapeutic way to improve the comfort of your hands and wrists and promote a relaxed, ‘parasympathetic state’ throughout your nervous system and whole self.
