Pain is a protective signal that plays a vital role in our lives by providing us with important sensory information after we have been injured. Ideally, we are able to respond to that signal quickly, and our pain goes away completely as we heal. Pain of this sort is temporary and comparatively simple. Chronic pain however, is more complicated. Pain that persists over an extended period of time has a way of becoming entangled -in our brain- with our habitual patterns, our internal image of ourselves, and our sensory experience of movement. Often exhausting, chronic pain can take a toll on our sense of vitality and emotional well-being.
Because they are gentle, flexible, and highly personalized, Feldenkrais lessons are especially suited to helping you with the challenge of reducing chronic pain. These unique movement sequences will give you opportunities to change and affect your experience of pain. In this series with Raz Ori, we will experience the healing power of effortless movements as we build new neurological pathways toward pain relief. By accessing the intelligence of our nervous system and using non-painful parts of ourselves, we will gradually begin to create new neurological connections for reducing chronic pain and discomfort.
