We are excited to present the work of Gaby Yaron, an extraordinary Feldenkrais Teacher. She was one of the first people trained by Moshe Feldenkrais and one of his closest students. Her work was exceptional and provides us with a model of Functional Integration lessons at the very highest level.

Long-time Feldenkrais Trainers Garet Newell and David Zemach-Bersin studied extensively with Gaby Yaron. They are honored to host this online workshop together. David and Garet will present a selection of newly enhanced videos of Gaby teaching Functional Integration and share some of the lessons they learned from her, which have stood the test of time. They look forward to having this opportunity to discuss and analyze what is unique about Gaby's strategies and approach.

"After Dr. Feldenkrais, Gaby Yaron was the teacher who had the greatest influence on me. Her work inspires me toward freedom and creativity in my Functional Integration." –David
"Gaby was a special mentor to me. She made contact with her students, always with warmth, respect, and humor, while at the same time, leading them towards making important self-discoveries." –Garet

With professionally enhanced video, sound, and added subtitles, you'll observe Gaby's dazzling skills of observation, creativity, and communication. And you'll learn from Gaby's detailed descriptions and explanations.

Watching Gaby Yaron in action will nurture your development as a Feldenkrais Practitioner. She worked with intelligence, creativity, and clarity of intention. A strong sense of optimism permeated her work and contributed to the potency of her lessons.

"Dr. Feldenkrais appreciated Gaby's work and received many Functional Integration lessons from her. I remember him saying, With Gaby, the work flows like water! " –David
"Gaby's style as a teacher was clear and encouraging. We look forward to watching her teaching, discussing her approach, and sharing stories and memories." Garet

About Gaby

Gaby Yaron was born in Romania in 1923 and graduated from the Music Academy of Bucharest in piano studies. In 1941, she emigrated to Palestine and eventually settled in Tel Aviv. In the late 1950s, health problems led her to have some Functional Integration lessons from Moshe Feldenkrais, and she became a regular student at his Alexander Yanai classes. In 1967, Moshe organized his first training program for Feldenkrais Practitioners, and Gaby was one of the first to enroll. While studying with Moshe, Gaby also studied anatomy at Rothschild Hospital. After the training ended, Moshe asked Gaby to meet with him weekly to develop new ideas and exchange FI lessons. Dr. Feldenkrais invited Gaby to be his Assistant in the San Francisco training program, 1975-1977, and the Amherst training program (1980-1983). Gaby also taught many of the San Francisco evening classes for the public. She taught courses and workshops in Austria and Germany and was invited to lead the first European Feldenkrais training program in Munich in 1984. Her success working with children led to invitations to present the Feldenkrais Method to professionals in development and rehabilitation. Gaby taught in training programs in Australia, Canada, the USA, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and England. She directed training programs in Sweden, Austria, and the USA, and in 1993, she began teaching a series of Master Classes in Austria and Germany. After an illness, Gaby died on June 3, 1995, in Boston, MA.
