Head's Up
In Flexible & Grounded, From Your Feet Up, Feldenkrais Trainer Carol Kress leads you on an interior expedition, exploring the ways we compose ourselves for action, and clarifying important relationships through our feet, knees, and hip joints. The lessons in this program will improve the effectiveness of your base of support, help you regain lost flexibility, and refine your movement.
Benefits may include:
Improved organization for action
Greater sense of stability
Improved flexibility
Better posture
More comfort in standing and walking
Increased self-awareness
Improved balance
Freer hip joints
Ideally, your feet provide you with a foundation that is both supportive and flexible. The well-organized use of your feet translates, upward, through your joints to provide you with stability, flexibility, balance, shock-absorption, and ease in standing, walking, and sitting.
Without an effective foundation, the comfort of our ankles, knees, and hip joints is compromised. We develop compensatory habits of self-use that impact our spine, ribs, and hips, and also affect the carriage of our head. Our experience and sense of ourselves becomes limited as our ease of movement is reduced.
If you are active and like to hike, stroll, dance, run, or stand for long periods of time, or simply wish to enhance support and adaptability from your feet to your head, this series may be of particular interest!
"Being relatively new to Feldenkrais, I have learned through this program to think less literally and to enjoy following your prompts while exploring my awareness more openly and with more freedom. I feel unburdened by the "right way" to do things and am more cognitive of the reaction of my body to each movement. It intrigues me how the smallest movement in my feet is realized in my hips. I am also appreciative of continuing my awareness while walking my dog. My ankles, knees and hips are grateful as I adjust my weight - particularly on my feet - as she and I enjoy our time together. Thank you for your in depth explanation and prompt response to my original question. I look forward to doing this program again and again."
