This workshop with Carol Kress is an invitation to get curious about the body you've been living in your whole life!
Feldenkrais lessons escort us through the familiar and into the unmapped geography of ourselves. With movement and awareness as our guides, we explore the fertile landscape of our own sensations and feelings — gaining clearer, richer access to both the present moment and our potential.
While some people come to the Feldenkrais Method seeking relief from physical problems or limitations, others are drawn to it to better understand themselves. They enjoy the way Feldenkrais lessons open new vistas, rich with possibility and opportunity— deepening their experience of being alive and making it fuller, more vivid, and more embodied.
For those inspired by adventure and self-knowledge, we are delighted to present a live online weekend workshop with Feldenkrais Trainer Carol Kress. Over two days, Carol will guide us through a set of lessons to deepen our engagement with ourselves — sharpening our sensory awareness, shaping and refining our actions, and invigorating our relationship with the world around us.
Carol's teaching leads us inward. Her work is playful and poetic, reflecting the depth of her Feldenkrais training and many years of practice in yoga and Aikido. The lessons in this workshop will be both internal and expansive, and involve a wide range of movements and positions. Join Carol Kress for two days of self-discovery, Feldenkrais style. As you become better organized, you will be amazed by your capacity for change and improvement.
The most interesting journey you will take is the few inches from habit to possibility.
Carol says, "We'll move through a variety of Feldenkrais lessons. We'll breathe; not as a technique, but as a discovery. We'll explore the spine in all its dimensions: bending, twisting, lengthening, and softening — and you'll discover that much of what feels like stiffness is simply habit. You'll be lying on your back, sitting in a chair, and seated on the floor. You'll do less than you expect, and notice more than you can imagine."
See how quickly your body discovers new options when you stop insisting -- and start listening!
What Past Participants Said
"You inspire me to go deeper into my sensations and organization! I really appreciate your teaching style, which allows us to use our curiosity to make new discoveries. This is such a fun way to learn: going slow and small in our own unique way. I love your gentle and calming voice, and the reminders to breathe, relax, etc. Your prompts and choice of words help me connect better with my body. Thank you, Carol, this has been one of the most useful classes for me! My body and mind loved it!"
~Sharana Mueller
"Being relatively new to Feldenkrais, I have learned through your teaching to think less literally and to enjoy following your prompts while exploring my awareness more openly and with more freedom. I feel unburdened by the "right way" to do things and am more aware of my body's reaction to each movement. It intrigues me how the smallest movement in my feet is realized in my hips. I look forward to doing these lessons again and again."
~Josie Miserendino
"While we philosophers have long known that dualisms such as mind/body are problematic, we have not found a way to demonstrate a unity. We have not found an alternative way to explain how we go about thinking, learning, and being the bodies that we are. The Feldenkrais Method addresses this issue. I find myself thinking, not merely abstractly, but as a tangible experience. With the Feldenkrais Method, ideas become a creative act that emerge in the full physicality of the world."

Who are Feldenkrais lessons for?
They are for everyone. No previous experience is required. Feldenkrais lessons are flexible and used by people of all ages and abilities, for a wide range of reasons. If you have a brain and a body, Feldenkrais lessons are meant for you.
Why are they called lessons?
They're called ‘lessons’ instead of ‘exercises’ because your brain engages in a natural kind of learning when you do them. They use gentle movement and relaxed attention to stimulate new and better options for your physical comfort, movement, and more.
Why does this approach work?
Your brain is on the lookout for information that can help you, and Feldenkrais lessons give your brain what it's looking for: relevant sensory information, time to notice differences, and a chance to build new neural pathways for greater comfort and mobility.
Workshop includes
- Six Feldenkrais lessons
- Information to help you adapt the lessons to alternative positions
