When you improve the way you sit, you improve everything
Many of us spend half the day—or more—sitting. It is an activity that is more demanding on our body than we might think. It places significant stress on our skeletal and muscular systems, our joints, our breathing, our digestion, our vision, and even our mood.
To make matters worse, when we're focused on screens we tend to hold ourselves in rigid, static positions for hours at a time. It's little surprise, then, that so many people are suffering from chronic tension and pain in the back, neck, shoulders, and hips—problems directly related to the way they sit.
Fortunately, your body already has a built-in support system you can activate and use. Easy Sitting is the fifth workshop in the Essential Action Toolkit. It features three Feldenkrais lessons specifically designed to help you develop safer sitting habits and avoid the muscular strain that often results from sitting. With the gentle, confident guidance of Feldenkrais Trainer David Zemach-Bersin, you'll discover ways to sit that can actually protect your back, neck, shoulders, spine, and hip joints.

Who are Feldenkrais lessons for?
They are for everyone. No previous experience is required. Feldenkrais lessons are gentle, flexible, and used by people of all ages and abilities, for a variety of reasons. If you would like to improve your physical comfort and abilities, this approach is for you.
Why are they called lessons?
They're called ‘lessons’ instead of ‘exercises’ because your brain engages in a process of sensory-motor learning when you do them. With easy movements and relaxed attention, new options for your physical comfort, posture, and movement will emerge.
Why does this approach work?
Feldenkrais lessons teach you how to reduce pain, restore function, and increase flexibility by directing your attention and guiding you through a series of gentle movements to activate your brain's neuroplasticity and bring about immediate improvements.
