Easy Reaching
The ability to reach freely with your arms is important for your overall comfort and mobility. Here are two powerful Feldenkrais lessons with Feldenkrais Trainer, David Zemach-Bersin to help you improve your comfort and ease in reaching.
Start Your Reaching Lessons TodayWhen you improve the way you reach, everything gets easier
We reach for things many times each day, but rarely think about the way we reach unless we have an acute neck, shoulder, or arm problem. Reaching with our arms is an ‘essential action,’ and when our ability to reach freely and easily is restricted, all of our movements and activities become constrained and less comfortable.
When you reach for something, a complex counterbalancing takes place throughout your entire body, involving your skeletal system, muscular system, vestibular system, and nervous system. As part of your body moves forward, another part of your body must necessarily move backward in order to assure that you maintain your balance and stability. Although often subtle, this counterbalancing dynamic plays a key role in all movements associated with reaching.
The Feldenkrais lessons in Easy Reaching will help you to improve the coordination of your whole self in motion so that reaching becomes easier. With the gentle, experienced guidance of Feldenkrais Trainer David Zemach-Bersin, you’ll learn to use your body in a more organized way so you can reach upward, downward, forward, and to the sides without injuring your arms, neck, or shoulders. This is the third workshop in the Essential Action Toolkit.

“We can get used to pain and restrictions in our movement, and forget what it’s like to feel comfortable and move freely. These lessons will help you to remember! When your essential actions are easier, more efficient, flexible, and free of pain, everything you do will feel freer, lighter, simpler, and less stressful.”

Who are Feldenkrais lessons for?
They are for everyone. No previous experience is required. Feldenkrais lessons are flexible and used by people of all ages and abilities, for a wide range of reasons. If you have a brain and a body, Feldenkrais lessons are meant for you.
Why are they called lessons?
They're called ‘lessons’ instead of ‘exercises’ because your brain engages in a natural kind of learning when you do them. They use gentle movement and relaxed attention to stimulate new and better options for your physical comfort, movement, and more.
Why does this approach work?
Your brain is on the lookout for information that can help you, and Feldenkrais lessons give your brain what it's looking for: sensory information, time to notice differences, and a chance to build new neural pathways for greater comfort and mobility.
